Did you know that every day an average of 6,000 people, mostly children, die in developing countries due to lack of clean water, sanitation and knowledge of basic hygiene practices? It is a statistic that Water For People is trying to change and you can be involved in helping the effort.

Water For People is an organization that works in developing countries such as India, Asia, Mexico, and Africa to install local sustainable drinking water resources, sanitation facilities, and health/hygiene education programs. They strive to create long-lasting changes by working with local governments and communities to train and educate them on how to maintain the systems Water For People implement.

On September 18th, 2010 the Groundwater Consortium hosted the inaugural 5K Race for Global Water in Ohio to benefit the non-profit organization Water For People. Over the past ten years, with over 1,500 runners and walkers, 120 volunteers and the support of various donors and sponsors, this event has raised close to $100,000. Past donations have helped fund the mission of installing sustainable water systems and sanitation facilities in developing countries, thereby saving thousands of lives. This event has served as an excellent educational opportunity for the community and over the years we have had hands-on exhibits and activities for children including games, face-painting, and a free Kids Fun Run with awards.

Join the cause by signing up for the 2021 Race for Global Water 5k event, details will be coming in the spring of 2021.
